This week: NAFCU keeps CU priorities top of mind
This week, the House is on holiday recess and will return in 2024, while the Senate is in Washington to focus on its remaining items for the end of the year. NAFCU will continue to advocate on behalf of the industry in end-of-year legislative efforts.
Of note, NAFCU is monitoring for possible Senate confirmation of NCUA Board nominee Tanya Otsuka.
Following the Senate and House passage of the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), President Joe Biden signed the legislation Friday. The final bill does not include several NAFCU-opposed provisions – a win for the credit union industry.
Also happening this week:
- Wednesday, the community development financial institution (CDFI) certification application for non-certified organizations will open (read more on the revised application); and
- Friday, comments are due to NAFCU in response to the CFPB’s proposed rulemaking that would designate certain nonbanks as larger participants subject to the agency’s supervisory jurisdiction (view the Regulatory Alert).
Stay tuned to NAFCU Today for the latest out of Washington.
