Today, NAFCU Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Ann Petros is scheduled to join the Independent Women’s Forum for a virtual policy chat on protecting lending services for unbanked, low-income Americans.

The discussion will be moderated by Carrie Sheffield, senior policy analyst for Independent Women’s Forum, and Petros will be joined on the panel by Tirza Duren, director of tech policy at the American Consumer Institute, and Patrick Brenner, founder and president of Southwest Public Policy Institute.

NAFCU has advocated for field of membership reform to allow credit unions to provide safe, secure, and reliable financial services to Americans who have been left behind by banks and other institutions. The association has also pushed back against recent rules from the CFPB that add significant compliance costs and burdens to lending, further limiting access to financial services for underserved areas.

The conversation will be streamed live on Independent Women’s Forum’s YouTube Channel at 1 p.m. Eastern.
