NCUA to host webinar for CUs on human trafficking

NCUAThe NCUA next month is set to host a complimentary webinar about the prevalence of human trafficking and detection methods from a credit union's perspective. The event is presented in partnership with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations unit and with involvement from The Knoble.

While the webinar – open to all credit unions –  is free, registration is required and is now available online.

During the event, scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on Jan. 7, 2021, participants will hear an overview of the issue of human trafficking, including:

  • its impact on communities;
  • law enforcement's efforts to combat it;
  • potential red flags in credit unions; and
  • how to report concerns to the proper authorities.

Attendees are encouraged to submit questions ahead of the event by emailing WebinarQuestions@ncua.gov with the subject line "Human Trafficking." The webinar will be archived and available on the agency's website and learning management service approximately three weeks following the live event.
