NAFCU preps robust event lineup in September
NAFCU is preparing to host four credit union events in September: Congressional Caucus, Large CU Summit, CFO Summit, and Regulatory Compliance and BSA Seminar.
First up, the association will welcome hundreds of credit union leaders to Washington, D.C. Sept. 10-13 for NAFCU’s 2023 Congressional Caucus. Attendees will hear from an exceptional lineup of speakers – including House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and the entire NCUA Board. Attendees are encouraged to complete the Hill Visit Form to schedule meetings with lawmakers to advocate for key credit union issues.
Industry leaders from credit unions over $5 billion in assets will also have the opportunity to join NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger for meetings with NCUA’s Office of National Examinations and Supervision and the CFPB’s Office of Supervision, Enforcement, and Fair Lending during NAFCU’s complimentary Large CU Summit. The meetings can be attended in-person in Washington, D.C. or virtually, and will take place Sept. 11-12. The event takes place adjacent to NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus and, while the event is free, requires a separate registration to attend.
NAFCU has partnered with Mastercard and VISA to cover Congressional Caucus registration fees for credit union CEOs and one additional staff member while funds last. Contact NAFCU Member Services via email or call 800.344.5580 to have previous registration reimbursed or register now for free.
Next, credit union CFOs and financial executives will travel to Las Vegas for the NAFCU’s CFO Summit, happening Sept. 19-21. Attendees will obtain actionable information, best practices, and strong networking connections needed to steer their credit union toward its goals. View the full agenda for the event and register now.
Finally, NAFCU’s in-person Regulatory Compliance and BSA Seminar will take place in Savannah, Ga., Sept. 26-28. During the sold-out event, attendees will have the opportunity to recertify their NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer and/or NAFCU Certified Bank Secrecy Officer designation.
While the in-person event is sold out, registration for the virtual Regulatory Compliance and BSA Seminar event remains available. Virtual attendees will experience the conference in real-time as the in-person event happens; all sessions will be livestreamed in Eastern Time.

[02:27] Having a leader who can really communicate cyber risks and understand how ready that institution is to deal with cyber events is incredibly important. [05:36] We need to be talking about risk openly. We need to be documenting and really understanding what remediating risk looks like and how you do that strategically. You are also seeing other technology that is coming into the fold directly responsible for helping CISOs navigate those waters.
