Hood, Mulvaney headline day 2 at NAFCU's Caucus
Hundreds of credit unions are back for day two of NAFCU's Congressional Caucus, which runs through tomorrow, joining NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team for a Capitol Hill takeover. While in Washington, industry representatives will share key credit union issues with members of the House and Senate during a record number of meetings on Capitol Hill.
Yesterday, members heard from journalist Gretchen Carlson, who inspired members to continue sharing their stories and reminded them that "no one is too big to fail," in reference to big bank attacks. Following Carlson's keynote, CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger announced that the bureau is looking for ways to ease the supervision process for financial institutions by partnering with other regulators. She also said the CFPB is taking "a fresh look" at the bureau's supervision process, in particular areas where it overlaps with or duplicates other agencies' efforts.
Today's lineup will kick off with remarks from NCUA Board Chairman Rodney Hood, followed by Mick Mulvaney, acting chief of staff to President Donald Trump and current Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director. Republican and democratic legislators, including several ranking members, will address the audience throughout the morning and focus on issues impacting credit unions. Access the full agenda.
