April 1 deadline for CDFI recertification
Credit unions whose most recent community financial development institution certifications were completed Feb. 1, 2010, or earlier must recertify by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on April 1 to participate in the fiscal 2013 CDFI funding round.
The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund said the requirement "includes but is not limited to" CDFIs currently in the process of submitting an application for funding in fiscal 2013 from the CDFI Program or Native American CDFI Assistance Program.
CDFIs that were originally certified after Feb. 1, 2010, aren't affected by this April 1 deadline, but any such CDFI must apply for recertification no later than 60 days after its three-year certification expires.
All certification or recertification applications submitted to the CDFI Fund after Feb. 4 must be completed based on the 2006-2010 American Community Survey, not the 2000 decennial census data previously used, as the basis for defining investment areas and developing investment area maps.
A series of conference calls is also scheduled for those requiring assistance with the application process; credit unions are invited to participate in the call being held Feb. 13. For more details, see the CDFI Fund notice.
