TFCU highlights effective mortgage strategies
Read the March/April TFCU now. |
March 6, 2012 – NAFCU members should be on the lookout for the March/April issue of The Federal Credit Union magazine, which features strategies to boost mortgage lending, tips on how to leverage new member relationships and a look at challenges and opportunities facing defense credit unions.
Readers will discover a new section in the magazine – Getting to Know, a new department aimed at learning more about the individuals who make up NAFCU's diverse membership. For the debut Getting to Know column, TFCU is spotlighting Katey Proefke, assistant vice president of compliance for Chevron FCU in Oakland, Calif.
The March/April issue, which is now available to view online, includes four feature articles. In "Strategic Steps to Grow Mortgage Business," TFCU contributor William Atkinson highlights credit unions that are taking bold steps to expand their mortgage portfolios while serving different member needs. Atkinson looks at ways credit unions are managing foreclosed properties and helping struggling homeowners.
Readers can also learn how credit unions are seizing new opportunities to court new members in the wake of public discontent with the big banks in Lin Grensing-Pophal's article, "New Member Momentum." Grensing-Pophal describes how blogs, social media, websites and seminars are helping credit unions to continually engage with members and build brand awareness.
The exemplary service provided by defense credit unions is highlighted in NAFCU Staff Writer Chrisalyn Santos' article, "In Service to Those Who Serve." Santos examines the transient nature of the membership base for these credit unions, the ongoing battle to protect military men and women from payday lenders, and what impact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is having on their efforts.
In "The Flavors of Diversity," TFCU contributor Anne Saita examines the benefits of reflecting membership differences in credit union boards. For the article, Saita spoke with NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland, a long-time advocate of board diversity, and other key figures in the credit union industry, including Aberdeen Proving Ground FCU Board Member David Gilbert.
The magazine should hit NAFCU member mailboxes soon.
