A good reminder...

Written by Anthony Demangone, Powered by NAFCU

As I write this, NAFCU's Congressional Caucus just ended. It was fantastic. Kudos to my colleagues Carrie and Dan O - they put on a great show.

As I think about it, the week has been a wonderful reminder.

A reminder for Capitol Hill of what we do. Staffers turn over. Elections change some of the names on the walls of Congress. It was fantastic seeing our members educate our representatives and those who work for them. I overheard one attendee, surrounded by staffers, start a conversation this way...."I've been at my credit union for 15 years. And let me tell you how we support the voters in your district..." Powerful stuff.

A reminder that cooperation exists. Watching TV, you'd think that no-one gets along. This week proved otherwise. Republicans and Democrats spoke of their support for credit unions. Attendees from every corner of our country gathered to work together to spread the message of what we do and why we do it.

A reminder of why we do what we do at NAFCU. Seeing NAFCU members from Guam, all the way to our Eastern shores, it was a true shot in the arm. This week was a reminder of why we fight - you are the men and women with the white hats. Talking and breaking bread with you was an honor.

If you missed us this year, we'd love to have you join us next time.
