This week: Final NDAA expected, congressional committees hold hearings

CapitolThis week, lawmakers are expected to file the compromised version of the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) after the conference committee finished hashing out differences between the two chambers’ bills. Earlier this year, the House and Senate passed versions of the NDAA that did not include NAFCU-opposed provisions related to interchange or military base leases. The final bill also does not include these provisions.

NAFCU will monitor the bill as it moves through both chambers for final passage before the end of the year.

In addition, the House Financial Services Committee tomorrow will hold a hearing on how financial regulators can leverage fintechs to foster financial innovation, as well as one Wednesday on housing affordability. The Senate Banking Committee is slated to hold its annual oversight hearing of big banks Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Eastern. CEOs from Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and others will testify at the hearing.
