This week: Congress in recess, NAFCU focuses on CU priorities
With Congress in recess until Nov. 28, NAFCU remains focused on various credit union priorities and encourages credit unions to engage in grassroots efforts. A full list of notable bills and policies can be found on NAFCU’s Grassroots Action Center, where credit unions can easily share statements with the association, send letters directly to legislators, and sign up for important email alerts.
Of note, ahead of the Nov. 17 funding deadline, President Joe Biden signed a continuing resolution to extend funding for the Departments of Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Energy, and Veterans Affairs until Jan. 19. The bill also provided funding for other government entities through Feb. 2. NAFCU will continue to advocate for credit union priorities as lawmakers work on longer-term appropriations bills.
Also happening this week:
- Wednesday, comments in response to the NCUA’s proposed rule to implement provisions of the Fair Hiring in Banking Act and codify the Second Chance Interpretive Ruling and Policy Statement are due to NAFCU (view the Regulatory Alert breaking down the proposal); and
- NAFCU’s offices will be closed beginning Wednesday through Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
