Schedule Congressional Caucus Hill meetings now
NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus is less than a month away. Throughout the event, credit union leaders and advocates will hear from an exceptional lineup of speakers – including House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., as well as the entire NCUA Board. Attendees are also encouraged to schedule meetings with their elected representatives while attending. Those who need assistance can complete the Hill Visit Form to request help in scheduling meetings with lawmakers to advocate for key credit union issues.
One major focus during Congressional Caucus will be fighting back against the harmful Big Box Bailout that would extend interchange requirements to credit cards. The association announced a partnership with Mastercard and Visa to cover registration fees for credit union CEOs and one additional staff member while funds last. Contact NAFCU Member Services via email or call 800.344.5580 to have previous registration reimbursed or register now for free.
In addition, this year’s Congressional Caucus will feature a panel discussion on the FedNow Service and remarks from Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Sandra Thompson.
NAFCU staff will share tips on how credit unions can best advocate for regulatory relief and industry-sought legislation. Most meetings on Capitol Hill will take place Sept. 11-12. If a credit union would prefer to set up their own meeting – or has already done so – NAFCU is requesting credit unions share details, for planning purposes, by emailing advocacy@nafcu.org.
Stay tuned to NAFCU Today for updates on the lineup of speakers.

[02:27] Having a leader who can really communicate cyber risks and understand how ready that institution is to deal with cyber events is incredibly important. You are also seeing other technology that is coming into the fold directly responsible for helping CISOs navigate those waters. [18:28] The reaction from the governing bodies is directly related to the needs of the position.
