NAFCU Update - January 2023
As we begin the new year, NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Mesack gets you up-to-date with industry insights from January and how NAFCU is working for you.
In January, the House elected its speaker and Congress sorted through committee assignments. After Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., was named chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, we held an exclusive Q&A session with him to discuss his priorities and credit unions’ role in the financial services market.
Additionally, the NCUA held its first board meeting of the year, unanimously approving to maintain the current temporary 18 percent interest rate ceiling for loans made by federal credit unions, and the House passed the NAFCU-backed Credit Union Board Modernization Act.
