CISA offers free cybersecurity services and tools for CUs

cyberTo help reduce cybersecurity risk across the United States, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) compiled a list of free cybersecurity tools and services to help organizations better their security capabilities.

“This living repository includes cybersecurity services provided by CISA, widely used open-source tools, and free tools and services offered by private and public sector organizations across the cybersecurity community,” wrote the agency. “CISA will implement a process for organizations to submit additional free tools and services for inclusion on this list in the future.”

Of note, CISA recently released an insights post, “Preparing for and Mitigating Foreign Influence Operations Targeting Critical Infrastructure,” providing necessary steps for organizations to assess and mitigate risks from information manipulation from malicious actors.

“Current social factors—including heightened polarization and the ongoing global pandemic—increase the risk and potency of influence operations to U.S. critical infrastructure,” wrote the agency. “CISA encourages leaders at all organizations to review the CISA Insights and follow the guidance to assess risk and increase resilience.”

NAFCU recommends credit unions take a look at these cybersecurity tools and services and will continue to work with critical infrastructure stakeholders to ensure credit unions remain protected and up-to-date on cybersecurity developments.
