YouTube Compliance Content
If you spend enough time on YouTube, then you have seen your fair share of cute dogs and cats. Or maybe you prefer cooking videos or movie trailers. YouTube can be a great way to waste time. But you can also find compliance content there.
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) all have YouTube video channels with a variety of content.
NCUA’s channel includes several different playlists that credit unions may find helpful. For example, NCUA has several playlists directed to a credit union’s board of directors and how the directors can discharge their duties:
- “What Every Board Member Should Know”
- “Credit Union Policies and Procedures”
- “Mergers”
- “Succession Planning”
- “Strategic Planning”
- “Understanding Financial Statements”
- “Understanding Key Ratios”
- “Effective Board Meetings”
NCUA also has a playlist about fraud and some of the controls that credit unions can implement to combat it, including segregation of duties, cash counts, etc.
Let’s say you're looking for fair lending guidance. Well, the FDIC has you covered there. It has a fair lending playlist that provides an overview of its fair lending review process and addresses different types of fair lending risk that can arise.
If you are looking for information to share with your members about how to spot fraudulent scams, then you may want to check out the FTC and the CFPB’s YouTube channels. The FTC has playlists about work from home scams, wire fraud, and economic impact payment frauds. The FTC also has a playlist about spotting fraudulent scams and reporting them. The CFPB has a playlist that advises consumers about what they can protect themselves from falling victim to different types of fraudulent scams.
But NCUA, the federal banking agencies, and the consumer protection agencies are not the only providers of relevant content that you will find on YouTube. Over the past year there have been a lot of major cybersecurity events that have affected companies all over the globe. The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency’s YouTube channel contains several videos related to cybersecurity and cyber safety.
As you can see, you can find helpful compliance resources almost anywhere. If you like the agencies’ content, don’t forget to hit the like button and subscribe to their channels.
