NAFCU's Weekend Reading Pile
Compiled by Anthony Demangone, Powered by NAFCU
Sometimes, things change so slowly, it prevents you from seeing the magic.
If you take a flight from your home to … just about anywhere, that’s fairly amazing. We’ve only been flying mechanically since 1903. But if that’s not enough, you can send an email from the plane to your sister Ethel in mid-flight.
That’s magical. There’s no other way to put it.
Much like credit unions.
Back in 1935, or 1943, or some other year, a group of people threw some money into a shoe box and started your credit union. It was a bit more complex, but you get the idea.
Today, your credit union might offer debit cards. Online banking. Mobile banking. Mortgages. And more.
On that flight, after you emailed Ethel, you could check your checking account balance, make a loan payment, and apply for a truck loan with your credit union. People working together as a cooperative, have provided a platform to provide themselves the most sophisticated financial services possible. From a shoe-box to that plane ride.
That’s magical. There’s no other way to put it.
