A little weekend reading...

Compiled by Anthony Demangone

Last Days of Summer

It's the last days of summer

There's a fresh breeze blowing
Leaves are starting to turn color

But they haven't fallen down
As I walk around the town
I can hear the sounds

Of children enjoying
The last moments of their summer vacation
This year's summer jam is on constant rotation
On almost every radio station

When winter comes, summer we will miss
But for now you'd be a fool not to be outside on
A day like this
The sun is shining, not a cloud in sight
Soon this will be over, but for now
Everything just feels alright

Now, on to this week's reading pile...

  • Wow. Humans have pumped up the size of watermelons and peaches. (Business Insider)
  • Headlines are funny. "Weekly Initial Unemployment clams increased to 267,000." (Calculated Risk) That doesn't sound good. But look at the historical chart of claims. The chart looks fantastic. Headlines and short-term trends are often misleading.
