A pretty sweet lesson

Written by Anthony Demangone

As you march around Hershey, Pennsylvania, you are surrounded by success.

Hershey chocolate is everywhere around you. There's Hershey Park, a fantastic amusement park. There's the Hershey Foundation. There's the Milton Hershey School, which provides free education for needy boys and girls. And then there's the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Obviously, Milton Hershey was a smashing success to set all of this in motion. What is more amazing - he had no formal education past the fourth grade.

Again, success is everywhere in Hershey.

Until you are about halfway through the free tour at Chocolate World.

Until you see this.

Two failures

The more I thought about it, the more it amazed me. What if he gave up after either "failure?" Think of all the children who would not have been educated, or the people who would have not have been treated at the hospital.

Or as Kate would say, all the kids who wouldn't get to eat Hershey's chocolate!

So, here's to all those people who refuse to give up. Maybe they don't all turn out to be as successful as Mr. Hershey, but the spirit they have is the same as his.

And here I am with the Dynamic Duo, before we rode the Comet. Briggs wanted to go right back on. Kate said she'll wait until she's 16.
