We sometimes get questions concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act and credit union websites.  There is very little guidance on the subject, so credit unions are often in the dark concerning what they should do. 

Here's an interesting article about a current lawsuit against Target, which alleges that the Target website is not adapted for the blind and violates the ADA and California disability laws.  The plaintiff, the National Federation of the Blind, allegedly approached Target and asked the retailer to modify its website to work with "screen readers," which allow blind consumers to access the Internet.  Target ultimately did not do so, and the lawsuit followed. 

Ultimately, it is hard to say how this lawsuit will affect web-related requirements for other American businesses.  But in a litigation-soaked society, it is an important read for any business that relies on its website.
