Tape Measures and People

Written by Anthony Demangone

I think I have three tape measure in my home. It's not that I measure things all the time, mind you. They somehow accumulated in this one drawer in the kitchen.

Don't ask me why, but my eye was drawn to this article: Five cool things you may not know about your tape measure.

How many did I know? I was zero for five.

Have you ever noticed the serrated bottom edge of the end hook on your tape measure? If you’re using the measure and don’t have a marking tool at hand, you can press this edge into your work piece, scratch it back and forth, and make a mark.

I have a new-found respect for my tape measures. My little buddies were far more complex than I thought.

And how cool is that? Just what everyone needs - a Penn State tape measure! I think I found number 4!

It got me thinking. How many skill sets go unnoticed at your credit union? When an employee applies for a job, I'm guessing they submit a resume. That resume lists all the previous jobs and areas of expertise the employees has amassed.

What happens to those resumes once they are hired? How many hidden gems are you overlooking? I just bet that you have employees with unknown skill-sets that might come in handy sometimes.
