Digital and Analog

As credit unions push further into the digital world, an interesting discussion has developed.
How do credit unions keep their human touch as they touch fewer and fewer humans?
At our Strategic Growth Conference, many an executive spoke about this. As did our keynote speaker, Anders Sorman-Nilsson.
Anders, working his magic.
He argued that we must remember that while we becoming more digital is essential, our members are at the end of the day, analog people who are touched by emotion. Organizations must find that middle ground, where "the old-school artisan meets the efficiency and power of the future."
And he said this over and over. We have to look for ways to use technology as an ally to create a more "humane" experience. As an example, he pointed to new technology in vehicles that automatically engage brakes when technology senses an impending collision.
Is anything more humane than saving lives?
Technology, he argued, could be used to help our members know when they are on the wrong path financially. To give them a gentle nudge to where they should be.
All in all, a great week. I hope to see you next year in San Antonio!
