NAFCU updates S. 2155 summary guide for CUs
In an effort to keep credit unions updated on the relief provisions housed in the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), NAFCU recently revised its summary guide of the law to account for regulatory actions that have taken place since its passage. NAFCU's summary guide details credit union-related provisions within the law, including their effective dates and other specifics.
This guide has been updated to reflect:
- the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection's actions regarding Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) changes in the law;
- a move by NAFCU asking the Social Security Administration to not add to credit unions' compliance burdens as it works to implement a provision contained in S. 2155 that is aimed at reducing synthetic identity fraud;
- an announcement by the Federal Housing Finance Agency that it will stop pursuing its credit score initiative in 2018 to focus on implementing the Credit Score Competition Act in S. 2155; and
- NAFCU's ask of the bureau for model forms to help credit union comply with changes the law has made to private student loan protections.
The eight-page table is available for download. NAFCU has also detailed the implications S. 2155 will have on credit unions in various posts on its NAFCU Compliance Blog.
NAFCU continues to work with policymakers on clarifications regarding S. 2155 compliance.
