Expected Nominee for CFPB Director; Countdown

Written by Steve Van Beek

On Sunday evening came word (WSJ.com) that the President Obama is expected to nominate Richard Cordray for Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).  Cordray previously served as Ohio Attorney General and is currently the head of the enforcement division at the CFPB.

Cordray would still need to be confirmed by the Senate.  Fourty-four Senators are on the record stating they will block any nominee for the CFPB Director role unless changes to the CFPB are made.  With July 21 coming up on Thursday, there will be more news stories on this issue than you can shake a stick at.  Stay tuned.  For more information, see the NAFCU Today.

I was enjoying a nice evening with my fiance the other day when she asked one of the questions that men dread: "Do you know what today is?"  I reached back to my classical training on stalling by slowly repeating the question while I scrolled through dates in my head.  Her birthday is in November, we started dating in April, got engaged in the month of September.  I was completely stumped and had to admit so.  The answer:  100 days to the wedding.

She could have given me 100 guesses and I wouldn't have come up with that. Â
