The world seems a bit topsy-turvy, doesn't it? 

There are time when reading the headlines is a painful process. This feels like one of those times. 

But a recent article penned by Joshua Brown did a nice job of putting this in perspective. One hundred and ten years ago, the great San Francisco earthquake struck. First it shook the city until it crumbled. Then a raging fire seemingly destroyed whatever was left.  More than three-quarters of the city's buildings were burned to the ground. 

Please give the article a read. It brings wonderful perspective. 

What happened after the quake and fire? The markets plunged. Recovered a bit. And then plunged far deeper. But once the true scope of the situation was known, the city started rebuilding, stocks started recovering, and people got on with their lives. 

Since that quake, we've had World War I, World War II, the Cold War, 9/11, and many more shocks to our nation and the globe. Each one feels new. Each one seems to point to the end of normalcy. 

And yet each time we all collectively pull ourselves through it. 

Brexit? We've been here before. And we'll be here again.
