CEO
MAC Federal Credit Union
Fairbanks, Alaska
Q: What led you to the credit union sector and to MAC Federal Credit Union?
A: After college, I worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for several years at various successful technology startups, where I learned the ropes and lessons of surviving and thriving in a fast-paced and ever-changing landscape. After a series of family circumstances, I returned to my native Texas and was hired as vice president of technology at a local credit union in Deer Park, Texas. After eight successful years at Shell Federal Credit Union and growth from $110 million in assets to more than $650 million, I felt the need to return to my startup roots and find something smaller. I was approached about a “smaller” credit union in Fairbanks, Alaska, that was in search of a COO. I was thrilled at the prospect of an adventure in the Last Frontier, and the rest is history! The previous CEO exited in late 2016, and I was promoted shortly thereafter.
