One Year at a Time
Written by Anthony Demangone
Over Thanksgiving, I had the chance to watch a piece of history.
Wellesley High School played a football game against their rivals from Needham, Massachusetts. On Thanksgiving Day.
They've been playing each other on Thanksgiving since...wait for it...1882.
Wellesley won this year in a thriller.
It was fun to watch the traditions play out. You could see generations of men who had played for Needham and Wellesley throughout the years.
So, how do you create something like that? Something that becomes a tradition? A foundational part of an area?
It is fairly simple. It takes 10 things.
- Start something.
- Make it great.
- Stick with it.
- Follow rule 3.
- Follow rule 4.
- Follow rule 5.
- Follow rule 6.
- Follow rule 7.
- Follow rule 8.
- Follow rule 9.
There you have it.
