The little things...
Written by Anthony Demangone
Yesterday, I was in Michigan with a number of my colleagues speaking to a group of great credit unions.
I love trips, because it gives me a chance to see how other people do things. Even at the airport.
The Detroit Metropolitan Airport is pretty darn nice. Tons of restaurants. Tons of space.Â
It is clear that they've thought about the little things to make the experience better. Here's example one...
Nearly every other airport uses the term "Baggage Claim." Now, I do have baggage. Tons. Just ask Mandy. But at the airport, I have luggage. This airport uses terms that people use. Kudos.
Here's example two...
At the luggage claim area, there were bright, new high-def TVs showing football. As people waited for their luggage, they caught up on scores and watched the game. Again, a little touch that made the experience much better for the customer.Â
There was free WIFI. Plenty of outlets. Tons of comfortable seating. And a bunch of wonderful restaurants.Â
Again, someone really spent time thinking of an airport from the point of view of the traveler.Â

And speaking of other good ideas, I really liked this "promise" from our host credit union, Michigan First. As I took the tour of the credit union, rarely was there a place where you couldn't see this brand promise.Â
Boom! (For those who don't know me, I have an annoying habit of saying or writing "boom!" when I like something.)
Again, let me be clear about that promise sign. Having that spread around is another important "little thing."Â
Boom!
