For many credit union compliance officers, the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations, or eCFR, is a go-to research tool. Another helpful tool is the Federal Register, where you can find past rulemakings with the complete preamble explaining the regulators’ reasoning behind the regulation. Over the past year or so, the Federal Register was beta testing a version of the eCFR on its website. This test must have gone well, because a new disclaimer on the eCFR indicates it is being updated “in late summer 2021.”
