Credit unions are committed to serving their members fairly and in compliance with fair lending laws. The general framework for fair lending has remained consistent over the past few decades, included the fact that credit unions are required to comply with major non-discrimination laws like the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and the Fair Housing Act (FHA).
