Upcoming Hearings. On Wednesday, June 6, there are two hearings that you may find of interest.
From 10am to 12pm, the Senate Banking Committee plans a hearing on "Implementing Wall Street Reform: Enhancing Bank Supervision and Reducing Systemic Risk," with Consumer Financial Protection Burean Director Richard Cordray among the witnesses. Although credit unions aren't affected by this part of Dodd-Frank, NAFCU is monitoring developments in this area for its market impact on cooperatives.
Then, from 2pm to 3pm, the Committee on Financial Services plans a hearing on "An Examination of the Federal Reserve's Final Rule on the CARD Act's 'Ability to Repay' Requirement." Â This issue was discussed in NAFCU's Comment Letter to the CFPB on Regulatory Streamlining (see page 3).
