Emergency Financial Services; Payback

Written by Steve Van Beek

Yesterday, NCUA issued Letter to Credit Unions 11-CU-13.  Unfortunately, the letter does not give any additional information than was provided previously and discussed on Tuesday.  I really wish NCUA would have included citations but perhaps they are working on a legal opinion letter with more information and specifics.

The CFPB took a different approach in response to Hurricane Irene.  Their blog post points to past information from the FTC and HUD informing consumers of potential loan scams.

On the commute home last night, there was a familiar question asked:  Do you know what Saturday is?  Fortunately, I was the one asking the question this time and my fiance was the one scrambling for an answer.  I let her squirm just a bit before letting her know Saturday marks one-year since we got engaged.

Her response:  So that means we've been planning this [insert adjective] wedding for a full year now!  I can promise you the adjective did not include "ing" so it wasn't that bad. Â
